Read Adapted Books

For B2 level, we recommend:

Detailed Strategies by Question Type

Step-by-step strategies for each IELTS Reading question type:

Multiple Choice
  1. Read the first question & underline keywords
  2. Scan the text for info related to the question
  3. Once you find keywords or synonyms, look for the answer nearby
  4. Read the next lines of text for confirmation
  5. Cross out clearly incorrect options

Question order matches text — answer to Q4 will be between Q3 & Q5.

True / False / Not Given
  1. Read the statement & underline keywords
  2. Scan the text, looking for keywords or synonyms
  3. Compare the found fragment with the statement
TRUE:Info matches the text
FALSE:Info contradicts the text
NOT GIVEN:Text has no info on this statement

Don't rely on your knowledge! The answer is based only on text info.

Matching Headings
  1. Read all headings & understand their meaning
  2. For each paragraph, find the main idea: "What's the author's point?"
  3. Match the main idea with headings from the list
  4. If two headings fit — mark both, return later
  5. Cross out used headings

Don't spend too long on one paragraph. Skip & return later. Headings aren't necessarily in text order.

Sentence Completion
  1. Use keywords from the question to find the paragraph
  2. Find a sentence with similar meaning
  3. Ensure the answer fits grammatically
  4. Check the word limit ("NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS")

Pay attention to new terms introduced in the text — answers are often related to them.

Summary Completion
  1. Read the Summary fully to grasp context
  2. Identify info type for each gap (name, date, reason)
  3. Use keywords to search in the text
  4. Check grammar & word limit

Summary often paraphrases text — look for synonyms. Answers follow text order.

Diagram / Flowchart Completion
  1. Study the diagram/flowchart: headings, arrows, order
  2. Identify keywords near the gaps
  3. Find text sections describing this process
  4. Follow the sequence: top-down or by arrows
  5. Predict word type (noun, verb) before searching
  6. Check spelling & word limit

IELTS rarely uses exact text words — expect synonyms & paraphrases.
